9 Full-time 1 hour ago Full Job Description For the 2023-24 School Year 244 days/year; 8 hours/day Purpose Statement The job of Director of Professional Development is done for the purpose/s of supporting the educational program with specific responsibilities for directing professional development programs and services; providing information and serving as a resource to others; achieving defined objectives by planning, evaluating, developing, implementing and maintaining services in compliance with established guidelines; and serving as a member of the leadership team.
This job reports to Associate Superintendent of Academic Services.
Essential Functions Analyzes the district's staff development requirements for the purpose of identifying the relevant issues and recommending or implementing a plan of action that will efficiently address needs.
Arranges college credit and/or board credit for the purpose of ensuring units of course credit are awarded for completing professional development opportunities.
Collaborates with internal and external personnel (e.
g.
other administrators, auditors, public agencies, community members, universities, etc.
) for the purpose of implementing and/or maintaining services and programs.
Coordinates with other district personnel (e.
g.
district and building administrators, a variety of committees, etc.
) for the purpose of serving as a liaison and resource, identifying training needs and/or coordinating professional development services within the District.
Designs services (e.
g.
staff development opportunities, trainings, programs, related materials, etc.
) for the purpose of implementing professional development program activities that address training needs of the District and in alignment to the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan.
Develops and implements the professional development budget for the purpose of achieving overall objectives of the department and maximizing the use of funds.
Develops onsite graduate credit opportunities for the purpose of assisting teachers in graduate level credits for continuing education.
Directs department operations; the maintenance of services and the implementation of new programs and/or processes for the purpose of providing services within established timeframes and in compliance with related requirements.
Facilitates meetings, workshops, seminars and inservices (e.
g.
facilitation skills, literacy strategies, etc.
) for the purpose of identifying issues, developing recommendations, supporting other staff, and serving as a District representative.
Manages a variety of programs (e.
g.
mentor training, mentor/protege partnerships, beginning teachers assistant program, etc.
) for the purpose of ensuring program objectives are achieved.
Monitors budget allocations, expenditures, fund balances and related financial activities (e.
g.
1% funds, etc.
) for the purpose of ensuring that allocations are accurate, revenues are recorded, expenses are within budget limits, and/or in compliance with established guidelines.
Participates in a variety of meetings, workshops, and committees (e.
g.
inter and intra district committees, community and public agencies, seminars, conferences, etc.
) for the purpose of conveying and gathering information regarding a wide variety of subjects required to carry out administrative responsibilities.
Performs personnel functions (e.
g.
interviewing, hiring, supervising, evaluating, etc.
) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity, and ensuring that standards are achieved and performance is maximized.
Prepares a wide variety of written materials (e.
g.
plans, budgets, funding requests, reports, analyses, recommendations, procedures, needs assessments, evaluations, annual schedule of professional development opportunities, etc.
) for the purpose of documenting activities and issues, meeting compliance requirements, providing audit references, making presentations and/or providing supporting materials for requested actions.
Provides staff development opportunities for District personnel (e.
g.
certificated, classified, Board members, Central Office personnel, etc.
) for the purpose of ensuring all personnel the chance to participate in professional development.
Researches a variety of topics (e.
g.
courses, materials, training consultants, etc.
) for the purpose of meeting staff training needs by developing new programs and services.
Serves as a steward of Professional Learning Communities for the purpose of supporting and implementing the district's goals.
MARGINAL Functions Performs other related duties for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:
operating standard office equipment including utilizing pertinent software applications; planning and managing projects and programs; overseeing program financial activities; developing effective working relationships; preparing and maintaining accurate records; administering personnel policies and procedures; program evaluation and assessment techniques; and grant development.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:
pertinent laws, codes, policies, and/or regulations; personnel processes; standard business practices; adult learning theory; and approved curriculum and instruction materials.

Responsibility Responsibilities include:

Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions.

Work Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:
some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity.
Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing.
This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
Experience:
Job related experience within a specialized field is required.
Education (Minimum):
Masters degree in job-related area.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
