IMMIGRATION SERVICES ANALYST

GS-05:
You qualify at the GS-05 level if you possess three years of progressively responsible experience, one year of which was equivalent to the GS-04 level in the federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience may have been gained in administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible work. Experience in substantive and relevant secretarial, clerical, or other responsible work may be qualifying as long as it provided evidence of the skills necessary to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Experience of a general clerical nature (typing, filing, routine procedural processing, maintaining records, or other non-specialized tasks) is not creditable. You must have experience performing the following duties:
Analyzing problems to identify significant factors, gathering pertinent data, and recognizing solutions; Planning and organizing work; and Communicating effectively orally and in writing. OR Successful completion of a full four-year course of study above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite can be substituted for specialized experience. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45-quarter hours. GS-07:
In addition to the requirements at the lower grade level, you qualify at the GS-07 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
Updating databases and information systems for further analysis and accurate reporting; Providing services to customers with positive results; Gathering and summarizing information for incorporation into final reports. OR You may substitute successful completion of one full year of graduate level education for the experience required at the GS-07 level. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester or 27 quarter hours should be considered as satisfying the one year of full-time study requirement. This education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university and demonstrate the skills necessary to do the work of the position. OR You may also substitute superior academic achievement for the experience required at the GS-07 level. You must have completed the requirements for a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with either:
(1) class standing in the upper third of a graduating class or major subdivision; or, (2) a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale based on four years of education or the final two years; or, (3) a grade point average of 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or, (4) membership in a national scholastic honor society. GS-09:
In addition to the requirements at the lower grade levels, you qualify at the GS-09 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
Researching information and systems data that form the basis for operational studies; Monitoring information to identify operational problems or trends and recommending solutions; Analyzing data to create reports on program elements for use in briefings or presentations. OR You may substitute a Master's degree or two full years of graduate education leading to such a degree in any field, or a J.D. or LL.B. degree, for experience required at the GS-09 grade level. Such education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise two years of graduate education. If that information is not available, use 36 semester or 54 quarter hours. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
