Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor

Provide a wide range of rehabilitation counseling and case management services to veterans with disabilities and other eligible individuals. Perform initial evaluations, make eligibility determinations, do rehabilitation planning problem solving, and conduct counseling. Coordinate rehabilitation services, complete case documentation, employment services, and administration and interpretation of vocational testing Make recommendations and referrals to other sources, which may assist the veteran. Act as Contracting Offcer's Technical Representative to acquire services needed in the rehabilitation process. Serve as Transition Assistant Program (TAP) Coordinator for military service members with a service-connected disability who are separating or retiring from active duty (and their spouses). Provide comprehensive and post-employment services which include assessing employability and assisting in the development of an employment assistance plan. Specialized

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07 level. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09 level. Experience:
Applicants must have One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-7; GS-9; GS-11) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience may have been gained while working with vocational rehabilitation service programs at the Federal, State, Local or private sector levels which required performing initial evaluations; entitlement determination; rehabilitation planning; problem solving; case management, including coordination of all rehabilitation services; case documentation; employment service; administration and interpretation of vocational testing, etc. The Office of Personnel Management's group coverage qualification standards, associated individual occupational requirements (IOR), and individual qualification standards covering white collar occupations in the Federal competitive service can be found here. BASIC EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Satisfactory completion in an accredited college or university of all the requirements for a master's degree in rehabilitation counseling, including an internship; or a master's degree in counseling psychology or a related field, including at least 30 semester hours of course work in such areas as foundations of rehabilitation counseling, human growth and development, counseling theories and techniques, vocational assessment, career development, job placement, case management, and medical/psycho-social aspects of disability. Total graduate study must have included or been supplemented by a supervised internship. For master's degree programs without a supervised internship/practicum, substitution is allowed for successful professional experience following completion of the master's degree. Experience suitable for substitution must be one full year in direct delivery of vocational rehabilitation services to adults with disabilities in rehabilitation programs, other than those in correctional The experience or internship/practicum must have been supervised by a professional in vocational rehabilitation or a closely related professional field that typically has oversight for vocational rehabilitation programs. In addition to meeting the Basic educational Requirements stated above, one year of post-graduate level professional vocational rehabilitation counseling experience, equivalent to the GS-09 level is required. OR In addition to meeting the basic educational requirements, successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education or a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in rehabilitation counseling or counseling psychology. GS-12:

For related degree programs other than Rehabilitation Counseling the focus of the masters degree program must have been on rehabilitation counseling as evidenced by the coursework required for the degree.A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education.Specialized Experience may have been gained while working with vocational rehabilitation service programs at the Federal, State, Local or private sector levels which required performing initial evaluations, entitlement determination; rehabilitation services; case documentation; employment service; administration and interpretation of vocational testing; instructing and interaction with a variety of clients, professionals and potential employers; Interpreting and applying Federal and State vocational rehabilitation laws and regulations in the provision of services to disabled clients; Providing individual counseling to emotionally and physically disabled adults; and coordinating the service necessary to prepare mentally and physically disabled adults for suitable employment. Vocational rehabilitation experience obtained prior to completion of the requirements for the master's degree is not qualifying. Specialized Education:
Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling, including a supervised internship; or a master's degree in counseling psychology or a related field, including at least 30 semester hours of creditable course work and a supervised internship.Awarded/Conferred Masters Degree required (must be reflected on transcripts).You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
